Federal State Enterprise “Departmental Security of the Federal Agency for Railway Transport” acts on the basis of the RF Government Regulation #540 of 27 June, 2009 “On Approval of the Federal Agency for Railway Transport’s Departmental Security Service’s Statute”.

 


According to the RF Government Regulation #540, the Federal Agency for Railway Transport’s Departmental Security Service has the following responsibilities:

  • Protect guarded facilities from illegal attempts; protect cargo (including special freight) during its shipment and at railway stations;
  • Control access to guarded facilities, and maintain adequate security inside them;
  • Prevent and suppress crimes or administrative breaches at guarded facilities, in accordance with the Russian law;
  • Maintain fire safety and conduct appropriate inspections at the railway transport;
  • In accordance with established procedures, take part in fire safety inspections, fire-fighting and recovery operations following natural or technological disasters or other emergencies at guarded facilities.

The Departmental Security Service has 20 regional offices, including 17 offices at railways, 67 groups and almost 1,000 units of various specialisations, covering the whole national railway network.

Federal State Enterprise “Departmental Security Service of the Federal Agency for Railway Transport” employs 57,000 people.
