THE PLAZA OF THE RIGA STATION IN MOSCOW HAS HOSTED THE PRESENTATION OF THE FIRE TRAIN OF A NEW GENERATION

29.08.2011

On the 29th of August 2011 the Plaza of the Riga station in Moscow has hosted the presentation of the fire train of a new generation.

The starting ceremony of the innovative train was attended by Alexander Chupriyan, the Deputy Minister of the Russian Federation for Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Management (MES of Russia), Vladimir Chepets, the deputy head of Roszheldor, Vladimir Yakunin, the president of the "RZHD" OJSC and by Vladimir Vetrov, the Director General of the Federal State Enterprise “Departmental Security Service of Railroad Transport of the Russian Federation”.

The new train is equipped with a platform with modular equipment, a reservoir tank and a wagon - pumping station. The number of the fire brigade is of 7 people.

The wagon - pumping station (WPS) is aimed to accommodate the staff on duty (ready team), the means of communication, warning and navigation, the fire and rescue equipment, fire extinguishers and other equipment. It was designed on the basis of the passenger wagon under the model 47Д, that has undergone the overhaul reconditioning and provides the ready team with all the necessary conditions for guard duty and efficient performance of their duties in the operational environment.

The platform with modular equipment is aimed to accommodate the fire-fighting unit (diesel power pump 100 l/s), the installation of the foam fire-extinguishing of the Purga (Пурга)-100 type, as well as the Austrian mobile remote-controlled firefighting machine on the tracklaying rail travel LUF-60 – the first for the national railways. The unit can be controlled remotely at a distance of 300 m. LUF-60 fights with fire, making some finely divided distributed water and is able to localize both the fires in tunnels and in the open terrain.

According to V. Yu. Chepets, the deputy head of Roszheldor, "by their work the fire trains have confirmed their pivotal role and place in transport security system. This year a large burden of fire fighting fell on the fire trains in the areas of Sverdlovsk, the East-Siberian and Trans-Baikal Railways."

According to him, "in April were organized and carried out the fire and tactical trainings (FTT) for each fire train. In the course of FTT were worked out the issues of receiving and processing of the fire reports, dispatch and movement of the fire trains, the joint actions during the fire fighting together with the railway workers, firefighters and rescue units of the fire department garrisons, the employees of the Internal Affairs Agencies and with other fire-fighting organizations."

The accumulated practice and improvement of the interaction experience of the "RZHD" OJSC, Federal State Enterprise “Departmental Security Service of Railroad Transport of the Russian Federation” and the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry with respect to the issues of fire trains usage have enabled to improve their level of rapid response to incidents and minimize the material losses from fires. Most of the fires in the railway network have been eliminated to the minimum size. During the fighting were rescued 6 people and the property amounting to over 109 million rubles.

During the current year the fire trains have made 918 trips to the fire sites, which is in 38% less if compared to the same period of the last year. Very significantly, in 53%, was reduced the number of trips to the fires in the railroad precinct. But there is noted an increase in the number of trips to the fires in the forest and peat arrays on the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia calls - almost in 24%.

With the help of fire trains was provided an effective assistance to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia during the fires extinguishing in the arsenals of the Defense Ministry in the Republic of Bashkortostan and Udmurtia.

The main task for the remaining autumn is to maintain a constant high level of combat readiness of the fire trains and ensure their effective use as intended and ensure the quality of preventive measures to prevent fires. After the demonstration in Moscow the fire train departed to the place of permanent deployment in the area of the Olympic Games in Sochi.
